Our History
Ventura’s story began on Christmas Eve, 1924, when war veteran and Victorian farmer Henry Cornwall started a bus service between Box Hill and Spencer Street Station. Now a fourth-generation Australian family company, Ventura is Victoria’s largest bus and coach charter operator, employing over 1,700 people and operating a fleet of more than 900 buses, including our first zero-emissions vehicle, with more to come.
Ventura safely carries over 42 million passengers each year and is proudly accredited by Bus Safety Victoria, holding ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 certifications. Our 12 depots provide efficient, localised service. Beyond route services, Ventura is a leading charter provider, serving approximately 150 schools with student transport and supporting numerous camps and excursions. Frequently asked questions
What are the smallest and largest bus sizes in the Ventura fleet?
Our buses range from 27-seater minibuses through to luxury coaches that can accommodate 57 passengers for overnight trips and extended touring. If you have access requirements, please let us know when booking, so we can allocate the best vehicle for your needs.
What is the maximum number of students that can travel on a bus?
Sitting three to a seat, we can accommodate up to 62 students with seat belts. For comfort and safety, we recommend three-to-a-seat seating for children aged 10 and under. Please let us know when booking if you require this seating arrangement.
If I book a Ventura bus for a school excursion, will it stay for the duration so students can keep their belongings on the bus?
For longer trips, the bus will stay with the group for the duration of the excursion. For shorter trips that drop customers to a destination, it may be more economical for your group to be picked up by a different bus. If you prefer the bus to stay with your group, let us know and we can provide a customised quote.
What about luggage?
Our charter coaches have undercarriage compartments that can accommodate large items such as golf bags, tents, and musical equipment. If your group requires additional storage space, please inform us in advance so we can provide a bus that meets your needs. There is also a small amount of overhead storage available for handheld items.
